FDNY FIRE ALARM INSPECTION UNIT (FAIU)

The FDNY-FAIU ensures the safe and lawful use of over 975,000 buildings and properties by enforcing the New York City Building, Electrical, and Fire Codes where related to Fire Alarm Systems. Their main activities include performing plan review/approval, new system inspections, as well as compliance inspections on existing systems. The FAIU has the responsibility of issuing Letters of Defect, Violation, & Summon's for non compliant systems and building owners. This department also performs the required re-inspection of outstanding Letter of Defects, Violations, and Summons' once system repairs or corrections have been made.
